Yoga Teacher Training

One of my very favorite things in the world is the opportunity to go deeper into the absolutely exquisite practice of yoga ~ from origins to the way time has shaped the practice, original intention and ethical frameworks, really ~ what it means to be a practitioner. I am so very fortunate to be able to share what I know, what I love ~ in a multitude of formats. On this page you will find a listing of all the ways we can study together under the umbrella of “yoga teacher training”

Sūkṣma śārira : Subtle Body Anatomy & Language of Yoga

August 21-23, 2026 Asheville Yoga Center

What is Sūkṣma śārira, or the subtle body? Like the word yoga, the subtle body has several related but distinct meanings.

This weekend training is a deep dive into the mystical and esoteric anatomy of yoga itself. Yoga, from the beginning, has always been a way to conduct oneself while pursuing the way to achieve states of bliss, samadhi and realization. To separate yoga from the subtle body is to lose the opportunity and understanding of the deeper intention of yoga, as well as the ability to experience yoga fully.

This course re-yokes the practice and the energy of the invisible forces activated for us to understand as we study and explore all types of energetic, mystical, metaphysical structures, vortices and anatomy. These are the pathways not visible to the physical eyes yet potent factors in the practice of yoga as well as the experience of being human. From the Vedic three body philosophy to the five Vayus and more, these systems will be presented as interrelated and cohesive rather than isolated systems. The weekend will include physical practice, pranayama and meditation to embody understanding.

Whether you are a teacher or a student or both, you will learn the anatomy of energy, allowing you to deepen and demystify the practice for yourself and others.

Curriculum will include:

  • History & source of the Subtle Body Anatomy understanding

  • The 5 Vayus

  • Prana and how it travels through the body

  • Nadis, Channels, Meridians

  • Marma

  • The 5 Koshas and the 10 Light Bodies

  • A passion for yoga

  • A desire to deepen your own practice

  • 200 hour ytt certification

Earth as Body, Breath as Prayer ~Introducing the 5 elements of Nature into your practice

Earth as Body, Breath as Prayer :

Introducing the 5 elements of Nature into your practice

February 26-28, 2027

Friday 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Saturday & Sunday 9:00 am - 12:30 pm & 1:30 - 4:30 pm

Universe or Cosmos? The word ‘universe’ refers to everything that exists: time, space, matter and the laws that govern them while inferring chaos. The word ‘cosmos’ also refers to everything that exists and is considered (by astronomers) to be bigger (universes within the cosmos) yet implies a system of harmony and order, fully governed by natural laws.

The timeless and sacred teachings of yoga, of tantra, of ayurveda affirm that indeed, we dwell in a cosmos of exquisite design and infinite intelligence and our health, happiness and ultimate expression of well-being is found through alignment with the natural world.

This 300 hour YTT module is a week-end long experiential immersion into the five great Tattvas (elements of nature) as manifest on earth and in our bodies and pranayama, not only as a means of controlling and working with our breath, but also as the voice of soul, of living prayer.

Learning Objectives:

  • • The 5 great Tattvas, or pancha bhutas as the basic building blocks of the cosmos

  • • How to work with the pancha bhutas as manifest in the body through asana, kriya and flow

  • • The wisdom of pranayama and the expression of soul, through breath

  • • Foundational pranayama techniques for healing, health and well-being

  • • How to apply these teachings in your practice and life
